You start your game on a Wednesday night, dusk falls over the village of Laslea, and the counter at the top of the screen reminds you: thirty days left. Thirty days cut into sixteen slots, eight by day and eight by night, to save your family from the vampire lords who have seized the valley. Time does not run on its own, it only moves when you take on a quest, and every quest eats a share of it. That is the idea carrying The Blood of Dawnwalker, released September 3 on PS5, Xbox Series and PC, and the one nearly every review singles out first."}},{"type":"paragraph","text":{"fr":"Derrière le jeu, un nom que tu connais sans le savoir : Rebel Wolves, studio polonais fondé en 2022 par Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, réalisateur de The Witcher 3, avec son frère Mateusz, le scénariste Jakub Szamałek et d'autres anciens de CD Projekt. Bandai Namco édite. On est dans un royaume fictif du XIVe siècle, Vale Sangora, quelque part dans les Carpates, et on incarne Coen, un « Dawnwalker », mi-humain mi-vampire : le jour, il se bat comme un homme et manie un peu de sorcellerie ; la nuit, il devient une créature bien plus puissante, avec les tentations qui vont avec.","en":"Behind the game, a name you know without knowing it: Rebel Wolves, a Polish studio founded in 2022 by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, director of The Witcher 3, with his brother Mateusz, writer Jakub Szamałek and other CD Projekt alumni. Bandai Namco publishes. The setting is a fictional 14th-century kingdom, Vale Sangora, somewhere in the Carpathians, and you play Coen, a 'Dawnwalker', half human, half vampire: by day he fights like a man and dabbles in witchcraft; by night he becomes a far more powerful creature, with the temptations that come with it."}},{"type":"heading","text":{"fr":"Ce que ça vaut, selon qui teste","en":"What it is worth, depending on who reviews"}},{"type":"paragraph","text":{"fr":"Les notes sont bonnes mais dispersées. Metacritic gives 84 on PC, 83 on PS5 and 88 on Xbox Series; OpenCritic counts 93 % of reviewers recommending the game. Destructoid gave 9.5, IGN 9, GameSpot 8, TheSixthAxis 8, praising top-tier writing down to the side quests, the day/night dual identity and a four-way directional combat system in the Kingdom Come vein. Game Informer, at 7, is the harshest: enemies repeat the same strings and most fights end up as 'Simon Says' sequences where you wait for the right cue to parry. The same review regrets that Coen's blood hunger never truly bites, blood being too easy to find, and that the thirty-day pressure evaporates as the ending nears. Coen ne bougera pas d'ici là, et ses trente jours non plus.","en":"Impossible not to think of The Witcher 3, and reviewers do not hold back: same way of holding the controller, same quest reflexes, same inherited control quirks. In late July we told you about Songs of the Past, the expansion CD Projekt is preparing for its own game; Dawnwalker is the other heir, the one who left to start his own company. So, do you jump in or wait? If you play for the story and the dilemmas, and a few bugs do not scare you, go for it, the choices carry real weight and the ending reflects them. If combat is what keeps you in an RPG, let a first patch and two weeks of player feedback go by. Coen will not move until then, and neither will his thirty days."}}]
