A 31-year-old actor the general public does not know walks through the door, lines learned, suit fitted. At the end of the screen test lies the most scrutinized role in world cinema: James Bond. And according to the American press, this near-unknown would be walking in as the favorite."}},{"type":"paragraph","text":{"fr":"L'information vient de Page Six, reprise depuis par toute la presse spécialisée. The information comes from Page Six, since picked up by the entire trade press. The shortlist reportedly counts six names: Jack Barton, Jack Lowden, Callum Turner, Jacob Elordi, Paul Mescal and Harris Dickinson. Screen tests are scheduled for early September, under the eye of Denis Villeneuve, who will direct this Bond 26 for Amazon MGM from a Steven Knight script. En clair, le profil de Daniel Craig avant « Casino Royale » : un acteur de composition que personne n'attendait.","en":"Barton, 31, has the resume of a solid supporting actor rather than a headliner: an appearance in Yorgos Lanthimos's 'Poor Things', seven episodes of 'SAS: Rogue Heroes' as John Tonkin, five episodes of 'Heartstopper' as David Nelson. Exactly the profile the production is reportedly after: an actor between his late twenties and early thirties, ready to commit to at least four films, with a fresh face the public does not associate with any other major role. Jacob Elordi, 29, the youngest and tallest on the list at 6'5, has been dodging questions for weeks: asked about the auditions at 'The Dog Stars' premiere at the Venice Film Festival, whose lineup we detailed a few days ago, the Australian deflected with a smile. Paul Mescal and Harris Dickinson each carry enormous critical stock, Callum Turner and Jack Lowden tick the historic British box. In other words: tests in early September, deliberations through the fall, white smoke before Christmas if everything goes as planned. Until then, beware of certainties, the list of favorites has already been redrawn several times over the past year. The next concrete milestone is those September tests. And if Jack Barton's name comes out on top, you will get to say you knew him before everyone else."}}]
